Heat Pump Installation Uplyme: The Devon Village With A Dorset Postcode
Uplyme’s parish reaches well beyond the village centre, and properties on its outer lanes often still run on oil or LPG. Heat pump installation Uplyme starts with a room-by-room survey, a system sized properly, and the grant deducted before winter sets in.
James and the team provided a first rate end to end service, our old oil boiler failed on Good Friday and within 3/4 weeks we were up and running with a new energy efficient air source heating system. Totally recommend Eco Pro Renewables Ltd to anyone who asks

What your Uplyme installation includes
A heat pump that disappoints its owner was nearly always specified in a hurry. Every Uplyme installation covers:
- The heat loss survey and design. Wall construction, glazing and room use, recorded one room at a time, producing a kilowatt figure unique to your home.
- The heat pump and a matched cylinder. A unit outside chosen for this house’s heat loss, a heat-pump-specific cylinder inside, sized to the bathrooms the household runs.
- Radiator changes where the numbers call for them, written into your schedule before anything is bought.
- Pipework, electrics and the outdoor base, settled on the survey visit and fixed by the MCS sound calculation.
- Commissioning. Flow temperature and hot water timing agreed with you, not left on factory defaults.
- The grant application, filed by us and netted off before an invoice is raised.
- Handover and aftercare. A plain-English run-through of the controls, then one number to call when your first service is due.
Underfloor heating sits inside the same scope, happy at these systems’ low flow temperatures.
Heat pump installation Uplyme: a long thin parish either side of one river
Uplyme’s parish stretches well past the village centre, out to lanes like Gore Lane and Yawl Hill Lane.
- Properties there tend to be older and harder to heat, and many run on oil or LPG, same as much of the East Devon National Landscape around them.
We are the MCS certified air to water specialist on Exeter Road in Exmouth, and James Stalker has been on heat pumps since 2010, past 100 installations behind him.
- Sizing comes off a room by room heat loss survey, never a guess made from which lane you’re on.
A short run along the A35, we also cover heat pump installation in Axminster, the market town Uplyme already looks to for everything else.
Why Uplyme homeowners choose us
Plenty of people will quote a cheaper number for Uplyme; fewer will still take your call two winters on. We do, on every lane in the parish.
The owner runs your job, from the survey and design through commissioning and handover, then aftercare.
- Ring later and you get James, who designed it, not a sales line.
- His background is on the about page.

Your designer inspects everybody else’s work.
- NAPIT contracts James as a freelance MCS assessor, judging other installers’ work against the standard.
Sizing comes from measurement, not a postcode.
- Out toward Gore Lane or nearer the village centre, each property gets logged on its own terms before a kilowatt figure follows.
Older and period properties welcome.
- A cottage near the church is nothing like a newer bungalow toward Lyme Road, and both get properly designed.
The grant handled and taken off the price, about a week on site.

- Where a property qualifies, we lodge the application and subtract it first; two jobs at once is our limit.
- We also cover heat pump installation in Seaton.

Grants and costs for Uplyme homes
Eligibility depends on the property and your circumstances, so not every Uplyme home qualifies. We confirm yours at the free home assessment before anything is promised.
Check if your home qualifiesOn running costs we’re straight: against cheap oil the saving is usually modest, and what changes first is no delivery, no tank to watch.

Grant figures correct as of August 2026. Eligibility criteria apply and are confirmed at your free home assessment.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme pays an eligible owner-occupier, replacing a fossil fuel system, toward an air-to-water heat pump.
- £7,500 applies for homes replacing mains gas or another qualifying fossil fuel system.
- £9,000 applies for homes off the gas grid on oil or LPG, common along Uplyme’s outlying lanes, on any application lodged on or before 31 March 2027.
- 0% VAT on qualifying installations through the same date, and we apply and deduct the grant from your quote, so you never pay it and reclaim it.
The kit we fit in Uplyme, and why
Four to ten kilowatts covers most properties here.
We choose the cylinder for your home, as we do the heat pump, and it usually arrives pre-plumbed with its valves and stats fitted.
We fit weather-compensating controls where they add value, and set them up at commissioning.
We install Ideal often, but James isn’t tied to one maker and picks the outdoor unit and cylinder for each property, usually a cylinder that arrives already plumbed.
That pre-plumbed cylinder works well in an older cottage near the church where the airing cupboard predates central heating.
Where a property needs something else, the heat loss survey shows it.

Handover and aftercare
We show you how it runs, and we are here afterwards, with servicing when it is due.
“Their design was really detailed, explained clearly and the heat pump works perfectly. Would definitely recommend and already booked in for a few of our other properties.”

A 1930s six-bedroom home with 34 windows
The owners doubted a heat pump could heat an older, larger property. A detailed design running at a low 47 degrees, with seven radiators upgraded and the rest kept, proved it could, comfortably.

The job three installers said could not be done
The owners wanted their hot water cylinder relocated to the garage. Three previous companies refused. We redesigned the pipework and did it, on a 311m² home with uninsulated floors.
Newton Abbot
A period home others had written off
We redesigned and re-piped the entire heating system for low-temperature running, and added radiators to rooms that never had them. “Too old” is usually a design problem, not a dead end.
We install across East Devon, including Uplyme, Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth, Ottery St Mary, Woodbury, Lympstone, Newton Poppleford, West Hill and Honiton.
Street, Somerset: three installers, three different answers. We designed it correctly.
Before calling us, this homeowner had already had two national installers and another company out, and been handed completely conflicting advice, one proposing an oversized 16kW system, another saying the property was not suitable for a heat pump at all. Our room-by-room heat loss survey showed the home was suitable, but nowhere near the 16kW that had been quoted. We sized it correctly, upgraded only the radiators that genuinely needed it, and fitted an Ideal Logic Air matched to the actual heat loss rather than the quote sheet.
What Uplyme callers ask before they book
That depends on the property’s size, radiators and hot water setup, so every Uplyme enquiry starts with a free home assessment, not a price list. Your heat loss survey settles the number you pay.

Book my free home assessmentNearly always, once it’s designed rather than guessed at. A cottage near the church holds heat differently to a newer Uplyme build toward Lyme Road, so the heat loss survey carries more weight here, not less.
Book my free home assessmentAbout a week, usually starting Monday and commissioned Thursday or Friday, water off only in short spells. Two jobs at once is our ceiling, so whoever starts your Uplyme installation finishes it.
Book my free home assessmentSometimes. A heat pump runs at a gentler flow temperature than a boiler, so a few radiators in an older Uplyme property may need to grow. Your heat loss survey names them room by room.
