Heat Pump Installation Kentisbeare: Seven Hamlets, One Address At A Time
The parish takes in seven hamlets, from Blackborough up on the Blackdown Hills edge down to Aller and Orway in the lanes. Heat pump installation Kentisbeare is designed one address at a time, from a room-by-room heat loss survey.
We had an excellent 10/10 experience with James and would highly recommend him. He went above and beyond to help update the heating system in our current housing project. Communication was outstanding throughout, he responded quickly and always provided clear explanations whenever we had questions.

What your Kentisbeare installation includes
The scope does not change between a village terrace and a hamlet farmhouse. Every Kentisbeare installation we quote covers:
- The heat loss survey and design. Each room measured in turn, wall build-up, glazing and use recorded, ending in a kilowatt figure drawn from your property rather than from an average.
- The heat pump and a matched cylinder. An outdoor unit selected for the property and a pre-plumbed heat pump cylinder inside, specified against the hot water your household actually uses.
- Bigger radiators only where the heat loss figures demand them. A cob terrace on Silver Street may want two or three emitters made larger; a newer house off Bishops Rise often wants none.
- Pipework, electrics and the outdoor base. Unit position comes out of the MCS sound calculation and is agreed at the free home assessment. Inside the conservation area covering the old core, we flag what to check with Mid Devon District Council.
- Commissioning and optimisation. We dial the system in against your design figure, set the weather compensation curve, and agree when the cylinder reheats instead of leaving a factory setting in place.
- The grant application. We complete the Boiler Upgrade Scheme paperwork, and the award comes off your price before you are asked for anything.
- Handover and aftercare. The controls walked through in plain English, then one number to ring when the first service falls due.
Underfloor heating falls inside the same scope, and it takes to low flow temperatures better than most radiators do.
Air source heat pump installation Kentisbeare: one parish, addresses miles apart
Around 930 people live here across some 433 homes, and those homes are spread over a village and seven named hamlets.
- Blackborough sits up on the hills, where the Blackdown Hills National Landscape still walks people past the old whetstone mines.
- Silver Street lies well below it, in the old village core.
Three of the five Kentisbeare certificates we read on High Street and Silver Street record an oil boiler, one mains gas and one electric storage heaters.
- Your grant rate follows your own supply, not the village.
- Our guide to replacing an oil boiler with a heat pump covers what changes.
We are the MCS certified air-to-water specialist on Exeter Road in Exmouth, about thirty five minutes south of the parish.
- Since 2010 James Stalker has done nothing but heat pumps, and the count is past 100 installations.
- Our air source heat pump installation page covers the sequence from survey to handover.
Why Kentisbeare homeowners choose us
Kentisbeare is a small parish, and word travels between the village and its hamlets faster than any advert. A heat pump installer Kentisbeare owners name to a neighbour has to earn it on site, so the heat pump company Kentisbeare homeowners deal with is the one that drew the design.
The owner runs your job.
- James starts with a home visit and a heat loss survey, draws the design, and experienced installers fit the system to it.
- He commissions, hands over and looks after the aftercare, so a later caller gets James, who knows the system. His story is told in full on the about page.

Your designer audits other installers.
- NAPIT uses James as a freelance MCS assessor, so a few days of most months go on inspecting other companies’ heat pump work and marking it against the standard.
We size from measurement, not floor area.
- Every room is recorded before a kilowatt is named, a High Street semi and a farmhouse out at Croyle alike.
Older and period properties welcome.
- Heat pumps for older properties in Kentisbeare start where any job starts, with the room by room numbers, and cob walls change the design rather than stop it.
- There is more on that in our guide to heat pumps in old houses.

- Where a property qualifies we lodge the Boiler Upgrade Scheme claim and take it off before invoicing.
- Work starts Monday and is commissioned Thursday or Friday, and aftercare runs back through heat pump installation in Cullompton, the nearest town.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme Kentisbeare: which figure your address clears
Our MCS certification is what lets us apply for the grant and take it off your quote, so the money is never yours to lay out and claim back.
Check if your home qualifiesEligibility depends on the property and your circumstances, so not every Kentisbeare home qualifies.
We confirm yours at the free home assessment before anything is promised.
- On running costs we say it plainly: against cheap oil the saving is usually modest, and what you gain is a bill that stops swinging.

The kit we fit in Kentisbeare, and why
4 to 10 kilowatts suits most homes in the parish.
We choose the cylinder for your home, as we do the heat pump, and it usually arrives pre-plumbed with its valves and stats fitted.
We fit weather-compensating controls where they add value, and set them up at commissioning.
We fit whichever make suits the job, which big firms tied to one or two brands cannot offer.
The outdoor unit is often an Ideal, and the air source heat pump Kentisbeare owners live with usually arrives paired to a cylinder plumbed at the factory: filter, diverter valve, cylinder stat and overheat cut-out in place.
Where a property genuinely calls for something else, the survey says so, and the design follows the building rather than the badge on the box.

“After comparing several quotes and gathering details I decided to go with Eco Pro after speaking with James and couldn’t be happier. Their design was really detailed, explained clearly and the heat pump works perfectly. Would definitely recommend and already booked in for a few of our other properties.”

A 1930s six-bedroom home with 34 windows
The owners doubted a heat pump could heat an older, larger property. A detailed design running at a low 47 degrees, with seven radiators upgraded and the rest kept, proved it could, comfortably.

The job three installers said could not be done
The owners wanted their hot water cylinder relocated to the garage. Three previous companies refused. We redesigned the pipework and did it, on a 311m² home with uninsulated floors.

A period home others had written off
We redesigned and re-piped the entire heating system for low-temperature running, and added radiators to rooms that never had them. “Too old” is usually a design problem, not a dead end.

Street, Somerset: three installers, three different answers. We designed it correctly.
Before calling us, this homeowner had already had two national installers and another company out, and been handed completely conflicting advice, one proposing an oversized 16kW system, another saying the property was not suitable for a heat pump at all. Our room-by-room heat loss survey showed the home was suitable, but nowhere near the 16kW that had been quoted. We sized it correctly, upgraded only the radiators that genuinely needed it, and fitted an Ideal Logic Air matched to the actual heat loss rather than the quote sheet.
What Kentisbeare homeowners ask us first
There is no list price, and a figure drawn off a floor plan is a guess. The number follows the Kentisbeare property in front of us: its size, the radiators already on the wall and the hot water the household draws. You get a fixed estimate in writing at the end of the free home assessment.
Book my free home assessmentIt turns on two things at once: oil or LPG heating in a Kentisbeare home, and no mains gas connection at the address. Meet both and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme rate is £9,000, on an application made by 31 March 2027. Everything else that is eligible, mains gas included, can qualify for £7,500.
Book my free home assessmentUsually. The certificates we read on Silver Street record cob alongside cavity and timber frame elements at the same address, which is ordinary for a village of this age. Cob changes the numbers in a Kentisbeare design, not the answer, and the room-by-room heat loss survey is what produces those numbers.
Book my free home assessmentSometimes. A heat pump runs at a gentler flow temperature than an oil boiler, so a few radiators in a Kentisbeare cottage may need to grow to give out the same heat. Which ones, and by how much, comes out of the heat loss survey, and anything that changes is priced into the fixed quote before work starts.
Book my free home assessmentAbout a week. We start on a Monday and commission on the Thursday or Friday, with one or two jobs running at a time, so the person who starts your Kentisbeare installation is the one who finishes it.
Book my free home assessmentYes. Blackborough, Sainthill, Stoford Water, Croyle, Orway, Aller and Kingsford all sit inside the parish and inside our patch, roughly thirty five minutes from Exmouth. A hamlet address is designed the same way as one in Kentisbeare village, from its own room-by-room survey.
